Chris has been a member and director of Legra Academy Trust since its launch. He formerly served as a governor at Belfairs Academy.

He is a journalist and newspaper editor, overseeing a portfolio of titles including the Echo, the daily paper for south Essex. He also oversees training of journalists.

I am proud to be the Vice Chair of Legra Academy Trust. Born in Westcliff on Sea, I attended Chalkwell Junior School and Belfairs High School. Belfairs set me up for a successful career as a solicitor practising locally for 25 years. In addition to my work as a lawyer I developed an internet marketing business employing people from the local community and beyond.

Stephen Cottrell comes from Leigh-on and was educated at Belfairs High School. Having served in parishes up and down the country, he is now the Bishop of Chelmsford, serving Essex and East London.

Nigel Holdcroft is a solicitor and partner in the firm of Tolhurst Fisher where he heads the Litigation & Matrimonial Department. He lives in Leigh and is married with 2 daughters in their twenties.


John Hunt (Director) read more

John is Chief Operating Officer of Finance & Quality at Bromley College of F&HE.

John is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts and lives in Essex with his wife and three children. Initially starting his finance career in the manufacturing industry John has over 20 years of finance experience including 10 years as a forensic accountant and leading Accounts, Compliance and IT for a regulatory body in the legal sector.


Claire Hankey (Director) read more

Claire is a director of communications and engagement working across numerous NHS health and care organisations. Her role encompasses public participation, stakeholder briefings, media relations and community and staff engagement. A former local and national journalist she is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. Claire lives in Essex with her husband and is mum to two young children.

Adam Tregoning JP (Director) read more

Adam is currently Mayor's Officer & Macebearer to the Mayor of the Borough of Southend-on-Sea.

Adam is also a Magistrate on the South Essex Bench covering Southend & Basildon Magistrates Courts.

Janet Jones (Director) read more

Janet has worked in the secondary sector of education for 40 years. She began her career as a linguist, was involved as a teacher trainer and over the past 20 years has worked as a successful senior manager in a variety of schools in Essex and elsewhere.
